When to order a ski and snowboard fleet: plan backwards from opening day
Updated: September 2026
There is no universal order date. Volume, customisation, financing, production capacity and destination determine lead time. This guide gives rental operators, hotels, resorts and ski schools a reliable sequence for planning the next season.
The short answer
- Inspect the fleet immediately after the season and plan backwards from the required operating date.
- Demand, product mix, artwork approval, financing review, production and delivery are separate steps; dates are confirmed in the individual quote.
- Financing starts at EUR 5,000 net asset value: Germany hire purchase, Switzerland leasing, Austria both.
- Purchase, hire purchase and leasing serve different goals; ask your tax adviser about tax and accounting treatment.
1. After the season: inspect stock
Inspect edges, bases, delamination, geometry and bindings before storage. Record retirement, repair and reserve by category. Your operating days and retirement reasons are more reliable than a blanket lifespan in years.
- Record retired units by reason
- Plan repairable equipment separately
- Count skis, boards, boots, bindings and helmets separately
- Set a reserve for downtime and peaks
2. Set demand and budget
Combine technical replacement needs with bookings, utilisation and your intended range. Only then decide what share should be purchased or financed.
- Plan size runs and use classes, not only total volume
- Use your own retirement rate
- Averages: EUR 420 net per pair of skis and EUR 299 net per board
- Financing from EUR 5,000 net asset value
3. Clarify standard or custom design
A custom topsheet requires coordination and approval. Define logos, colours, mandatory details and final artwork early. Production and delivery dates can only be confirmed after scope and final approval are clear.
4. Align model and term
The finance model depends on country and business goal. REGENIX Alpine offers 6, 12, 24, 36, 48 and 60 months. Rates and approval depend on asset value, down payment, term and the finance partner's review.
- Germany: hire purchase
- Switzerland: leasing
- Austria: leasing and hire purchase
- Direct purchase remains available below the financing threshold
5. Secure approvals and delivery
A realistic plan names owners and approval dates. Keep required date, destination, product mix, artwork status and finance model in one overview. We only quote specific production and delivery timing after reviewing the project.
Glossary: purchase, hire purchase, leasing and seasonal rental
Purchase is direct acquisition at B2B terms. Hire purchase spreads payments and is structured towards ownership. Leasing provides use for the contract term against instalments; ownership and end-of-term options are set by contract. Seasonal rental means time-limited use for an agreed period. The signed quote and contract always govern.
- Purchase: direct acquisition
- Hire purchase: instalments with intended transfer of ownership
- Leasing: use against instalments under contract
- Seasonal rental: time-limited use
- Have tax and accounting treatment checked individually
